Why aren't flagrant fouls reviewable in the NBA? They can effect the outcome of a game in a big way! So Joe Johnson was called for a flagrant foul tonight against the Spurs. At this point it was a 4 point game, that went to a 9 point game in the blink of an eye. It probably wasn't a flagrant foul and the league will more than likely rescind it which means Joe won't have to pay a fine. But, so what?? That doesn't do a damn thing for the Hawks. When a flagrant foul is called you get free throws and the ball, so shouldn't they make damn sure it was a flagrant before they make that type of decision. They can review shots at the end of a period by using replay, to me this is just as important. I don't just feel this way because it happened to the Hawks. I've felt this way for a long time. I don't think the refs should just huddle together and make that decision and let the league clean up after them if they were wrong. Go to the damn tape and make sure you saw what you think you saw after you all got together. If it was so obvious then they wouldn't need these meetings to make a decision. The call should be on the ref who blew the whistle for the damn foul anyway. I don't see why they are capable of calling regular fouls on their own but they need a forum to discuss whether or not a flagrant foul was committed. That is peer pressure if I've ever seen it. Two refs that weren't anywhere near as close as you were come in and help you decide that the foul you saw was worse than you originally thought. This makes no sense. I already hate NBA officiating and I don't understand why they won't do anything to make it better. The technology is there and it would only take a few minutes. Hell, they could do it during one of those 20 second timeouts that actually last about 60 seconds. It's time for them to come into 2007.

So A-Rod can opt out of the last 3 years of his contract after this year. I know he's owed well over 70 million dollars over those 3 years, but I expect him to opt out and kick rocks! He's just not cut out for New York. He's clearly a superior talent to Jeter, but in the eyes of Yankees fans (including me) he will never be as good as him. DJ brought us four championships where as A-Rod has brought none! He can barely get a hit in the playoffs and that is where you earn your money in New York. To be honest we don't care if A-Rod jacks 100 home runs during the regular season. That's all fine and well, but we'd like him to at least get on base in the post season. Is that too much to ask? He has the physical tools to do anything he wants on a baseball field, but something is missing mentally. He's weak and he chokes when the pressure is on. We can't have that on our team! He's a great player and it might be the best thing for everyone involved if he went somewhere else to finish his career. As long as he plays for us I will be rooting for him because in order for us to be successful he needs to be successful. But, for his mental health I think he needs to go somewhere where the expectations aren't quite as high. We Yankees fans think we are a World Series team every year and as delusional as we may be, that is something he has to deal with. He's gotta go, and he needs to take Carl Pavano with him! Carl has been STEALING money from us for the past 2 years, and dammit if he doesn't pitch this year then they have to cut his ass! Its amazing that Cashman doesn't want to talk contract with Mo Rivera because he wants to see how the season goes, but they've not batted an eyelash about paying that slug Pavano and he hasn't pitched a meaningful game for us yet. Ridiculous! Hey, I know Mo is getting old, but his body of work warrants him getting an extension and if he's not as good as he used to be so what? They've wasted money on lesser players for years. He deserves an extension and they need to do it now because if he has a great season he might be too pissed to re-sign in the off season. You don't think the Red Sox wouldn't offer him a King's Ransom? That would hurt our team and my feelings! Ugh!

Okay, okay, okay! I was wrong about the Bears winning the Super Bowl. Their offense was absolutely atrocious! Rex, bless his heart was well.........Rex. We've seen this several times this season, but I honestly thought they would win in spite of him like they've been doing all season. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I'm happy for Tony Dungy, he deserves to be the first black coach to win the Super Bowl considering most of the black head coaches in the league including Lovie Smith got their chance to coach from him. They gave Peyton Manning the MVP but anyone who watched that game knows the real MVP was Dominic Rhodes. He ran through the Bears defense with little resistance. Speaking of the Bears defense, when did they forget how to tackle?? I know they were trying to strip the ball, but at some point you have to just stop the guy. Oh well, at least now when we see a damn Peyton Manning commercial we'll know he's done something to deserve the overexposure.

All the media members who are outraged that Tank Johnson will be allowed to play in the Superbowl need to get over themselves! He's a professional athlete making millions of dollars. I don't know if you all have been living under a rock, but in this country our legal system is great as long as you have money! No one should be surprised that an ILLINOIS judge is going to allow him to play in the SUPERBOWL! Hello, its only the biggest game in the world. What in the hell did you all expect??
I dislike Peyton, Eli and Archie Manning. I have no idea why I don't like Archie other than the fact that my dad doesn't and I learned about football from him. So naturally my dislikes had to extend to his sons too! Anyway, I hope the Bears win the Super Bowl. As a matter of fact I know they will and the Colts will have ESPN among other media outlets to thank for it. Think back to the last few championships where one team has been a prohibitive underdog: Florida Gators, St. Louis Cardinals just to name a couple. When you have to hear over and over again how you can't stop someone, it makes you that much more determined to prove everyone wrong and that's what the Bears will do.
And what the hell is up with all the media availability the players are subject to. Is there anything more you can find out from them on Thursday that you didn't find out on Tuesday? Enough is enough. Let these guys do whatever they are going to do before Sunday. We don't need to hear the same questions for 3 days in a row. Its ridiculous.
